Are you treating your mum to a meal out this Sunday (It’s Mother’s Day, just in case you’d forgotten)? The Food Standards Agency (FSA) are urging everyone to make sure you checking the food hygiene rating, as well as the menu, before you make a booking.
Just because your mum’s favourite restaurant looks amazing and gets great reviews, it’s not necessarily a great place for food safety, and you don’t want to be taking any unexpected guests home with you. Which is why the FSA, in partnership with local authorities, introduced the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme.
When eating out, especially with your nearest and dearest, you’ll usually choose a place where you like the food and you know you’ll have a good time. However, it also makes sense to check out the food hygiene rating as well. You might be surprised by some of the results. Maybe a cheap takeaway will have a higher food hygiene rating than a smart, expensive restaurant – then you can splash out on flowers as well!

Happy Mothers Day Folks!
p.s. Mum – This is NOT a hint as to what we’re doing.
